Working as a travel staffer certainly offers a number of benefits.  Explore these 4 reasons why you should consider becoming a traveler.

#1 – High Demand and Job Security

With the shortage of cardiovascular lab workers and the increased demand for atrial fibrillation services among an aging population, growth in cath lab and electrophysiology jobs will continue over the next few decades.  Plus, hospitals are always looking for temporary staffers to come in and relieve their full-time team for vacations, leaves of absence or short-term disability.  So, there’s no shortage of travel staffing positions in sight.

#2 – Better Compensation

Travel staffers usually earn more than their permanent position colleagues.  For example, according to a recent wage survey, RN travel staff earned higher wages by over $6-12 per hour in almost every region. With the extra compensation you can pay off student loans or save for a down payment on a home.

#3 – Build Your Resume and Expertise

Working as a traveler provides a great way to build your resume and expand your knowledge.  Each 13-week assignment at a leading facility provides invaluable experience as you’re exposed to highly skilled professionals, new procedures and new technologies.  Facilities you interview with in the future, look at this experience favorably. A willingness to travel also shows and eagerness to learn and experience new things as well as flexibility.  Altogether, having travel experience makes you more marketable.

#4 – Explore New Places

If you love to travel and experience new places, then working as a traveler may be right for you.  It’s a great way to explore new cities and experience new people.  You could potentially explore New England in the fall, work in Washington, D.C. in the spring to see the cherry blossoms bloom, California in the summer and Colorado in the winter.
